Desiree Kameka-Galloway

Desiree Kameka-Galloway developed and spearheads three housing initiatives of the Madison House Autism Foundation (MHAF). For over 10 years, on behalf of MHAF, and having conducted over 100 on-site reviews of residential models, Desiree’s focus has been and remains researching housing issues, advocating issues of the impact of autism in adulthood and presenting at local and national gatherings. A recognized disability housing expert and keynote speaker in conferences across the country, Ms. Kameka is cited in media outlets such as The Atlantic, Rolling Stone Magazine, NPR, Psychology Today and ABC News and is a contributing author to various authoritative research publications, e.g., “Autism Spectrum Disorder in Mid and Later Life”. In addition, she is a major contributor to Building an Intentional Community in Delaware (Feb 2017), a report funded by the Ford Foundation, has been invited to speak on panels at the UBS Global Autism Innovation Roundtable, Great Minds Coming Together on Autism International Conference, the United Nations World Autism Awareness Day, and at the National Institute of Health (NIH) to the Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee (IACC) on Autism After 21, is a member of the IACC Housing Work Group and continues to provide active consultation to the OKR project.
